4 Simple Ways to Brand your Etsy Shop

4 Simple ways to Brand your Etsy Shop. How to Brand your Etsy ShopBranding your creative business is incredibly important. I didn’t even know how important it was until I did it. I’ve been an Etsian for 7 years now and have always coasted along, hoping people would catch my individual listings here and there, and they did. I never made more than $200 a month and I thought I was doing awesome. People were buying my crafts! Woo Hoo! I am so ashamed by my own naivety. If I could go back in time, even just 5 years, I would have started Branding my Creative Businesses.

What is Branding?

Branding is a marketable look that your customers can rely on, are attracted to, and even become loyal to. That’s a big one there… more on that later. Your Branding also sends the message of your Brand out into the world and conveys your company vision. There is a whole lot more on Branding out there on the internet, written by much more savvy people than me. I am writing this post to share with you how Branding your Etsy Shop can be super easy and in turn, extremely beneficial.

4 Simple Ways to Brand your Etsy Shop

Cohesiveness is key. You want your overall branding to repeat throughout the whole customer experience so that it “sticks” in their mind and they remember you and your shop. What I mean is, your Branding should be carried through from when your customer is shopping, buying, receiving your products and then perhaps running back to the packaging to answer that excited friends question on, “Where did you get that!?”

1- Shop Headers with Canva

What does your shop header look like and is it Branded? I use Canva to create my shop banner. It is a design website that is completely free to use unless you want to upgrade it. They even have a convenient template for Etsy Banners! {I know, right?} You can even download some of their designs for free if one so happens to fit your shop. I recommend using a product image or even a pretty stock photo. Head on over to Canva now and start fiddling.

4 Simple ways to Brand your Etsy Shop for Increased sales

2- Order Slips

Since your customer was inspired by your pretty shop, they buy something. Make sure that you’re printing the order slips. Go into your Open Orders and select them all. Click [Print Orders] and a box will pop up. Click the blue [Customize Options] to the right and you’ll get a drop down menu. You can choose what you want but I choose many. Select the [Shop Banner] option {pink arrow} for sure so that it makes your Printed Order Branded. I also choose to include a coupon code for my repeat customers and I put a message in there to tag me on Instagram.

3- Business Cards

Create a business card that coordinates with your Shop Header. I’m actually updating mine be exactly the same when this previous design runs out. You’ll want to include a business card so that when a friend of your customer says, “Wow I really like that! Where did you get it?!” your customer can hand your name right on over. A business card is a great way for your customer to keep your shop in their records too. I know I keep all of the business cards that came with my Etsy orders when I bought online so that I remembered where I got it. I could go back into my order history, but when I see a business card laying on my desk I sometimes think of buying a gift when I otherwise wouldn’t. Vistaprint is an amazing resource for business cards, or have you seen some of the gorgeous Business Card options from Zazzle? Shop Business cards HERE

4- Packaging

My fourth and final but probably the simplest way to brand is packaging and how you ship your items. Your packaging makes the first, impression on your customers. Not only that but think of how many hands touch your package before it arrives at your customers’ doors? Here’s a fun story: I drop my bundle of packages off daily to our local Post Office, perhaps 10+ a day. My packages are all bright pink with my logo and website on them. One day, I hear my Etsy notification ding and I run to check what the order is. Low and behold it is an order from someone right here in Stayton who WORKS at my Post Office! So the next day I hand deliver her order and refund her shipping and she says to me, “I saw so many of your fun, pink packages come through that I got curious and went to the website on one of your labels!” -End Amazing Story.

My packaging along inspired a purchase. You can do that too! Everyone is excited to get their order, so make it even more fun for them to open, just like Christmas, dress it up! My whole Post Office knows it’s me now going through their building with the bright pink packages. When I drop them off now, any one of them says, “Oh, it looks like someone is having a party!” and they’re right! The PO recognizes my brand!

Buy Packaging in Bulk

Fun packaging is so easy to buy. Please stop buying packaging retail too please! You’re cutting deeply into your profits. Always buy in bulk. I order my packaging envelopes through Amazon Business so that I can set up a reordering schedule. My envelopes are all bright pink but they have so many options available.

Now go forth and Brand!

Branding has done tremendous things for both of my Etsy shops. I really started putting effort into my branding in January of 2017 and I’m already making more than I did for all of 2015 and half of 2016. More on that in a later post… 😉 Good luck fellow Etsians! How Branding Dramatically changed my Etsy Shop Income

Why I choose Etsy as my #MomBiz | and how you can too

Why I choose Etsy for my Mombiz. Work from Home Ideas. How to make money from home. Naptime Hustles. Side Hustles for moms. Why you should open an Etsy Shop. How to open an Etsy ShopAll Moms in our generation seem to have a Mom Biz, a #Naptimehustle, a #Momtrepreneur endeavor. I am no different. Many times, the Mom Biz bug hits when the babies come. In one way or another, Momma needs to make more money! I choose Etsy. Whether you are a full-time working mom or a stay at home mom, I’m willing to bet you’ve got a side hustle, or… you’re looking for one.

As a Mom, I have many side hustles going, often at the same time, but I would have to say that my biggest, side #MomBiz that I have going, in additional to my regular “job” of being a mom and a professional is my Etsy. There are two Etsy Shops that I run on the side. I know, I know, there are 4 rings in my circus and I’m busier than I can handle sometimes, but I love it.

Why I choose Etsy for my Mom Biz

I have been an Etsy Shop owner since 2010. I was first introduced to Etsy through my main profession as a wedding coordinator. Etsy proved to be a phenomenal supplementary business platform because I could sell wedding related item to clients I already had. At the time, I also owned a real life, walk in and shop store location that offered handmade and vintage wedding decorations so I could have them for sale on Etsy, reaching a nationwide market for my retail store. When customers weren’t in shopping, I would be in the back, boxing up online orders.

Top 4 Reasons I choose Etsy

Of all the Side Business opportunities, out there for women, I choose Etsy for 4 main reasons.

Flexibility

I am a mom. I have 2 kids I raise all day long and in between meals and story time I can crank out an order. Whenever we get into the car we’re just driving through the post office. I don’t have any deadlines, or anyone to answer to and there is nowhere I must be on any given day. Of course, there is the occasional question from a buyer or a custom order and yes, those orders all have shipping deadlines, but I can adjust those based on how busy I am. I can create all my listings to have specific timeframes for production so I’m not rushed. I can be my own Mom Boss on my own terms.

Creativity

As a Wedding planner, I’m mostly successful because I’m creative. I like to be artistic and create things from scratch. I also like to repurpose, rebuild, and recycle things into beautiful, new wedding resources. My Etsy Shop not only gives me a creative outlet but it offers me a 24-hour storefront to profit from it! I’m certain that every artist you talk to, regardless of their craft will confess that the best part of it all is when someone else loves your creation so much that they BUY it. The rush and the adrenaline from a sale only fuels my passion for creating something else, for someone else. Etsy gives me that opportunity.

Introvert-Friendly

Did I mention I manage both of my shops from home now? I can do everything from inside my warm, creativity cluttered office. I don’t have to leave or interact with any customers daily. Or, for me, what I find even better is that I don’t have to host a party, tag my friends online or hit up my neighbors to make my next level up. I’m anti-social… there, I said it. I love that I can just publish a listing and people will find it. I don’t have to sell it, Etsy does that for me. Granted, I do a lot of promoting, but all from the comfort of my office… in my sweatpants.

Automated

Most of my listings are either custom order or completely digital. This is great for 2 reasons. First, as a custom order, I don’t have to make it until it is already paid for. Therefore, I don’t have to stock a bunch of inventory and hope it sells. Second, with the digital products, I’ve done the work once, and then it sells repeatedly as a download. I no longer must work to earn the profits. It is all automated. I literally make money while I sleep, doing nothing. Someone buys the listing, Etsy emails them the product, then renews my listing automatically for me. I could sell 100 of the same file and never lift a finger.

Are you ready to open an Etsy Shop?

Have I convinced you to join Etsy? Are you creative? Crafty? Are you looking for a place to sell your digital brilliance or custom order creations? If you are, I have a gift for you…

I’m building a giant list of #MomBiz opportunities for the up-and-coming Momtrepreneur to choose from. There are so many out there but I believe the deciding factor for women is actually the reasons other women choose to do a business. It’s the reasons and how a business makes your life better, not always the products. To be featured, please email me your entrepreneurial adventure and I’ll let you know if it is already taken or if you’re free to write and submit.

Guidelines:

  1. Theme- To inform Women about your business and why they might want to join your network, not to sell products or to advertise your current business.
  2. Requirements- Your Mom Biz must be able to grow as a network or Women must be able to easily start their own by the end of the post.
  3. Inclusions- Your Network Link! Let’s get Women into those new Home Businesses so they can thrive!

This is my final report on Making Mommy Money for the year of 2016. It reflects the whole year and how I got here. You can scroll to the bottom and see what I did every month. This month I’m reflecting on where I am and more importantly how I got here, then using that information and the experience to guide me into 2017.

If you’re just joining in on this monthly income report series, my goal for 2016 is to expand this blog into a financial contributor so that I can stay home more and learn with my Hooligans.

I write 2 blogs, this mom blog {You’re here! Thanks!} and another blog for my career as a Wedding & Event Coordinator, which you can find HERE. This report is a combination of the two blogs. Truth be told, it IS wedding season right now, so I am busy with my in-person clients {really busy} so blogging is taking a backseat for the next few months. Looking Forward

Oh boy, where to begin? As I get ready to dive into 2017 I have so much in my head but not really a sure plan on where to start. I am so thankful for all the unexpected success, both from the blogging community and on Etsy. As you’ll see, most of my income this year came from Etsy sales, which are marketed from the blogs. I also have a huge overall income from Tradesy which is also a big factor over at the Wedding Blog, Green-Eyed Girl Productions.

 Here are this month’s results:

But I still have it down since I have yet to reconfigure the inventory I have left after the Wedding Resale Event at the Launch Party last month :/ You can sell your clothing and maternity clothes too. Blogging Income Report for November | Making Mommy Money Online

Blogging Income Report for A Cotton Kandi Life. Blogging Incomes. How to make Money Online. Mom Blogger Incomes WAHM Income Report. How to make money Blogging. Blogging Money Reports.Do you know those times where you feel like kicking yourself because you realized to do something really smart and you’re wishing you had started it a long time ago? This is again how I felt when I Registered for Ebates… and regretted {still do} all of the online purchases I had made before getting cash back… It’s not too late for you… you can still Register for Ebates! You’re welcome.

I finally made some big steps this month, after everything settled down and I hunkered down into my “Husband Holiday” or at least that’s what I’m calling it… The time of year when I actually see my husband and focus more on him, not my income… He’s a big fan. What that means is actually going to bed before midnight and not running straight into my office as soon as he walks in the door with the greeting of, “Dinner is in the crockpot and Wyatt needs a change!” I’ve established it to be from my birthday, Nov 10th, to Valentine’s Day. This is a very low wedding season time of year for me so it works out great!

I was able to take another look, from way back at my small screen and attempt to automate a lot of it so that I didn’t have so many little pieces to keep up on…

Automated Income

This month I spent a little bit of time {not much} automating my websites to better filter to each other. I linked credit card accounts to pay automatic fees which would earn me extra money. I added additional Amazon links and even some Affilaite Window links to many more posts. I install plugins on the blogs that will build Facebook adn Instagram followers quickly and easily as people are viewing my site.

 Here are this month’s results:

Chase Freedom Card Cash Back: $150– Now here is the biggest additions to my brilliant automation… I finally opened up another credit card account that is just for my businesses and online. I switched all of my automated fees {mostly Etsy} to just bill to this new account and then I set it onto autopay. So… ta-da! Instead of my Etsy fees {which I have to pay anyway} drafting out of my checking account, they now go to this credit cash, which earns me cash back, and then IT is autopayed too, but from my checking account automatically.
I went with the Chase Freedom Credit Card which gives me 1.5% cash back. I set it to autopay the balance so I never have to remember to pay it! Although, I do still login into my account often to check in on my rewards! My first round was $150! For doing nothing extra! Just paying my Etsy fees that I ALREADY have to pay! Blogging Income Report for A Cotton Kandi Life. Blogging Incomes. How to make Money Online. Mom Blogger Incomes WAHM Income Report. How to make money Blogging. Blogging Money Reports. The first weekend of October we {myself and a fellow Wedding Professional, Sara #shoutout} hosted a massive Launch Party for the 2017 Engaged couples. At the Launch Party, I hosted a Workshop that Brides attended, where I guided them through a PowerPoint presentation of my ECourse and EBook. We raffled off free books and organizers and had sponsors, yaddah, yaddah. I immediately had a bunch of people signing up for my ECourse. In fact, they got a free checklist if they did it right there before they left.

Here is the awesome part about the launch party too… as part of their registration for a swag bag we collected their email addresses. We built a list that we could follow up with after the Launch Party. This way, those who missed the Workshop could still get the information {about my ECourse and EBook} as well as their free coupons and other promotions deals. We also hosted a giveaway which helped us all build up our Instagram followings.

The Launch Party was crucial in setting up successful newsletter lists but also for me to explain my digital products to real brides in real life, not just on the Interwebs. As soon as I could talk to a person about my System and they could ask me questions, it was very easy to sell…

The Launch Party

As a bride, you’re pretty lost when you start out. I happen to have a product that helps them, immensely. The problem is getting that product in front of them so that it presents itself as a solution and not just another cyber wedding things, which ultimately makes their life more confusing.

The Launch Party was also a great way for me to make sales on items I have in my Tradesy Shop and The Reusable Wedding Program {used wedding items, linens, etc that I sell online.} This segment of the Launch Party was our Wedding Resale Event and we invited other former brides, now wives to bring their items too as part of a consignment sale. All of the items I sold on this day, in person I am not counting as income in this report since it is not actually “Online Money” but, I did put my Tradesy Store on vacation mode so I could take all of the items there to the sale. So if you’ve been following along all year, you know that the Tradesy income has been a huge Sales Report figure, which it won’t be this month.

You can see all of the details for the Launch Party on my other Wedding Blog HERE

 Here are this month’s results:
