How I dressed my kids for Disneyland. How to Dress Kids for Disneyland. Shoes to wear to Disneyland. What to Wear to Disneyland for Kids. Cheap Disney CLothes for Kids. Kids Outfits for Disneyland. Tips on Traveling with Kids. Safety Advice for Parents. Getting ready for Disneyland has a lot of moving pieces. When we started planning my first priorities were the admission tickets, the flight, the rental car and then getting our kids through the airport. Once I had those four major details ironed out, the fun could begin! I admit I may have had a bit too much fun shopping on Amazon, but it sure paid off! This post is all about How I Dressed My Kids for Disneyland. My goals included: Practical, Safety Smart, and Affordable. I also knew that spending money inside the Park was something I wanted to avoid for the budget. We were going on this trip for mostly free, so I didn’t want to go overboard on souvenirs either. {I know, most would think the opposite, but… I’m cheap}

How I Dressed My Kids for Disneyland

The first goal of mine was, “Practical” which to me screams shoes. There would be a lot of walking in the three days that we were there {and a lot of carrying} so I didn’t want their shoes to keep coming unties, fall out when being carried or give them blisters. Their shoes were actually a big concern of mine, turns out. So, I did actually buy them new shoes.

I found Mickey Mouse Shoes at Wal-Mart for $11 {!!!} Can you believe it?! I still can’t. They magically had two pairs that were my boys’ sizes too! These shoes resembled the Nike Free Shoes that I was wearing {matching points} and they had a velcro strap, not shoelaces. So when it came to how I dressed my kids for Disneyland, They were money, and worth every penny!

Safety Smart Clothing

You’re probably thinking, “what on Earth does she mean, Safety Smart?” I will tell you… {Thanks to Cash’s hero, Bill Nye} I have been asked multiple times about my top tips for traveling with two young kids to public places and through crowds. One of my best tips is to make them match and dressing my kids for Disneyland was no exception. I do this for a few reasons, but mostly to help make them more noticeable to everyone.

One reason is so that I remember, and everyone with them remembers what they’re wearing. Two, if one is still with me I can tell searchers to find his “matching” brother. {That is a top tip that comes from department store shopping} Third, I like to make the color they’re wearing bright or visible, such as red. A staple in my boys’ closet is their red zip-up hoodies. We wear these everywhere! So with every outfit, I planned on these bright red hoodies being included.

Affordable Clothing

I am a huge fan of the whole Disneyland Experience and getting all decked out in the fanfare. You may have noticed on Instagram. I definitely wanted my kids to be covered in Mickey Mouse, head to toe. For me, that’s a big part of the magic and the overall experience. That’s the typical vacation package deal, team shirts, and souvenirs! However, all that awesome Disney Gear comes at a high price tag if you buy it when you get there. So, with some forward thinking, I was able to dress my kids for Disneyland in “souvenirs” that I actually brought with me and didn’t have to buy at the park.

Mickey Mouse Ears Hats & Headbands

What’s the most iconic souvenir you can think of? Mickey Hats, right? Me too, and when I dressed my kids for Disneyland, I wanted the ears. Guess how much those Hats are inside the park? {cringe} Well I found them on Amazon before we even left for only $13! I know right?! The boys loved them and were so excited when I presented them to them on Day 2 of our trip. I got 2 for $26 and if you’re keeping track, that’s still less expensive than ONE inside the park…Another major score I found online wear our Mouse Ear Headbands.

I was able to buy a 12-Pack for our group of 10 people for only $14. This gave us 2 extras so in the event that one got lost it wouldn’t be a big deal at all for about $1. If I had paid the In-Park price, I would probably dive out of a ride to catch it if it flew off!

  1. I AM 100000% with you on NOT wanting to spend money in thepark! IT IS SOOOO over priced! I remember a friend bought a banana for like $5! I always bring my OWN food and you’re totally right – SNEAKERS are a total must! Anyone who doesn’t wear them are stupid!
