I am pretty excited to share this Ms. Frizzle Costume breakdown with you. Long story short, this year we celebrated Cash’s 5th birthday. This was the very first year I didn’t have a wedding on the same weekend as his birthday party, hence, the all-out Science Party and Ms. Frizzle Costume. Cash is my Science Guy, so when he told me he wanted a Bill Nye and Magic School Bus themed birthday, it was an easy sell!
The Best Ms. Frizzle Costume Dress
Obviously, at least I think, the Ms. Frizzle Costume is all about the dress. This is the most recognizable feature about her amazing character. So when searching for my perfect costume, I began there. Luckily, it didn’t take long! I jumped onto Amazon {my fave} and began a search for “Ms. Frizzle” costume. Unfortunately, most of the dresses I found looked like pretty cheap Halloween costumes that I could likely only wear once. So I changed my search to “Space Dress” and Ta-Da! The perfect Ms. Frizzle, blue, outer space dress in an adorable cut and affordable price arrived!
Here is a quick link for you:
There are more options to choose from though! If you’re going to a different look, or maybe even a specific Magic School Bus episode where Ms. Frizzle is wearing a specific dress, I have a link for you! [Follow this LINK] to see 2 more dress color options. A black Space Dress and a Galaxy Dress.
Here is another link for some AMAZING skirts that would also work for a Ms. Frizzle Costume. Or if you’re a teacher in general.
Pulling it all together
One of the big secrets to pulling off the perfect Ms. Frizzle look is actually underneath it all. I bought a puffy underskirt that made it look bigger and better. It comes in 26 different colors! I did have to iron it once it arrived to fluff it up a bit though. Find it and more colors [HERE] or below:
The final touches
As we well know, Ms. Frizzle is known for her bright orange and frizzy hair. I achieved this {loose on the achieved since I have dark brown hair} by braiding my hair in 8 tiny braids the night before, right after I got out of the shower. Now maybe your hair is a perfect Ms. Frizzle look already, but my hair is usually stick-straight.
Now here comes the tricky part. In the morning, after I took out the braids I did even more frizzing. But, I also used one of those mesh hair donuts and centered it on my head around a hairband. This part was the hardest, getting it to be where I wanted it. #notabeautyblogger
From there I just twisted my frizzed hair around it and stuck it with bobby pins until it was all up. I had my sister spray me with Orange Hair Spray. The same can I had left from Wyatt’s Ron Weasley costume! and I was ready to go.
Ms. Frizzle worthy Accessories
No outfit or costume is complete without accessories right? Of course not. Lucky for me I had some great shoes already. They only needed to be *Frizzled* with some glitter star stickers. Fun Fact, my boys LOVED decorating my Ms. Frizzle shoes the morning of the party! You can buy some cheap flats and I got the glitter star stickers at Wal-Mart.
One piece I did love about my costume was my necklace. I ordered this gorgeous, long Abalone necklace from my friend’s Etsy Shop, Canyon Craft Company and as soon it arrived the boys started calling it my “Moon Necklace” so obviously it had a role to play in the Ms. Frizzle Costume!
There will be so much more of this Science Party coming to the blog soon! I promise!
