If you’ve had a conversation with Cash in the last year, it was probably about Pokémon. This is AWESOME considering how the card game just skyrocketed his reading and math skills. We’re all in over here at Camp Kelso and couldn’t have been more excited when Cash requested we throw a Pokemon Birthday Party.
How to Throw a Pokemon Birthday Party
We went the Movie Night route, complete with a Concession Stand and Projector Screen Theatre. Cash’s Birthday is in July, so the weather is perfect for outdoor movies. Although, we do have to wait FOREVER for it to get dark. To accommodate for this we changed our party time to be later in the day, rather than around lunchtime as usual.
Movie Night Concession Stand
If you remember the Ice Cream Shop Adventure of 2019 you’ll recognize this beauty. One of my life goals has always been to have an outdoor theatre. With 2020 Quarantining us this seemed like the perfect opportunity to indulge in outdoor entertainment. We bought all of our equipment on Amazon, Billy installed it, and we were up and running long before Cash’s Pokemon Birthday Party. He still thinks he “got the theatre for his birthday” and we’re just going to leave it at that.
Pokemon Party Food Ideas
You know me, I LOVE a good pun, especially when it comes to party food. This event was no exception. More on all the food in another post, but here we can talk about the structure of the Concession Stand, formerly known as Ice Cream Shop… Obviously, now that we have an outdoor theatre, the kids were game to move the stand from the roadside to the patio, closer to the “theatre” area. I was able to fit a 6′ Folding table on the inside perfectly and cover it with this Gingham Picnic Vinyl Cover, to form this reach-in style Concession Stand for the kids.
Dollar Tree provided many of the essentials from these white carriers to the snacks themselves. I bought those little buckets of Nilla Waffles just so I could put the Pokeball on them. The yellow treat bags, and popcorn buckets came from Dollar Tree as well.
