What’s In My Kid’s Smoothie | The Secret Ingredients

What's in my Kid's Smoothie. Smoothie Recipes for Moms. Smoothie Recipes for Kids. Healthy Smoothie Recipes. Meal Replacement Smoothies. Chia Seed, Flaxseed, Turmeric, Cumin, Apple Cider Vinegar, Crushed PineappleWe all know that nutrition is important for our daily lives as moms. But through the chaos of it all, it can be hard to make sure you’re getting all the “good stuff” into your kids too. Cash was, and still is an extremely fickle eater which was a constant stress for me until the #MomWinning moment I decided to start serving Smoothies.

My kid wouldn’t eat food

I remember talking to my pediatrician, way back when about Cash not eating enough which made me concerned. My doctor assured me that so long as he was growing properly along with the toddler expectations he was okay. That did make me feel better, but what made me the most concerned was not the amount of food, per-say, but the quality of food he did eat. He was one of those kids who just wanted to eat the same 3 things all day long; oatmeal, bananas, and string cheese. I knew he wasn’t getting all of the proper nutrients he needed which was a big stress for me and my husband. We would have standoffs with him at dinner because he wouldn’t touch his plate. The plate finally full of green vegetables and protein…This, of course, caused a rift in our parenting strategy because Billy and I both had different feelings about how we should solve this problem.

We started a Smoothie Experiment

At the start of the new year, we began a fun little Rainbow Unit in Toddler School. Cash loved to learn so I was already winning. We decided to “eat the rainbow” and make a Smoothie per color. My solution was born! Cash, and Wyatt both turned out to be Smoothie lovers. #luckyme.

It became a Daily Routine

The Smoothie Experiment was such a big hit that their morning Smoothie became an expectation. We added into our daily routine as a “second breakfast” at 10:00 am every day. They wake up about 7 am so they’re ready for a pick-me-up right around that time. This is also a great time because they’re hungry, it’s not quite lunch time and if I don’t give them something they’re not going to have a good next few hours of behavior until nap time. So really, it’s in my best interest too! See how I build our Toddler Schedules in THIS POST.

What’s in My Kid’s Smoothie

Okay, time for the goods. We don’t really mix it up as much as we used to, but they seem to be fine with that. Most of our Smoothie making revolves around the same key ingredients which I believe give them the daily dose of nutrients they need. A Smoothie should never replace a full meal, but let’s face it, as a mom if I have to, I’m hitting that drive-thru, so I take comfort in knowing that we have our daily Smoothie routine!

What's in my Kid's Smoothie. Smoothie Recipes for Moms. Smoothie Recipes for Kids. Healthy Smoothie Recipes. Meal Replacement Smoothies. Chia Seed, Flaxseed, Turmeric, Cumin, Apple Cider Vinegar, Crushed PineappleWhat we use daily

These Ingredients build our Smoothie Foundation

  • Crushed Pineapple- Base
  • Organic Spinach/Mixed Greens- Substance
  • Organic Fruit Smoothie Mix {from Costco}- Flavor
  • Vanilla Yogurt- Smoothness
  • 4 Cups Water- Quantity

These Ingredients are my “Super Secret” additives that give a Smoothie a little healthy kick

Now, I want to be very clear that I am not a certified nutritionist. This post is about what I put in our Smoothies, but not necessarily what you should put in yours. I had all of these ingredients approved by my pediatrician and did my own extensive research. My kids are not allergic to anything, nor do they have any aversions. You should most certainly consult your doctor and begin with small doses before you build a huge Smoothie routine.

Now go forth and get yourself a top secret healthy Smoothie! You’ll all feel better knowing all the “good stuff” made it into your healthy kids!

How to keep track of your Summer Schedule with a Magnetic Weekly Planner

How to keep track of your Summer Schedule. How to Plan your Week. Magnetic Weekly Planners. Weekly Planner Reviews. Flat Harmony Weekly Planners. Dry-Erase Magnetic Weekly Planners. Gift Ideas for moms. How to Organize your Week. Organizing tools for moms. Mom Planning tools. Fertility Tracker. Summer time for moms can be very difficult. With the kids being out of school and vacations, even day trips for that matter, I often feel like I may lose my little mind trying to keep track of all our schedules. I swear I fall asleep on Sunday night, wake up, and it’s Wednesday. If it weren’t for a very convenient and well positioned Magnetic Weekly Planner in our house we would completely fall apart.

Magnetic Weekly Planners

There is so much to love about an organizational system you can interact with easily. Magnetic Weekly Planners might be the perfect communication tool for several reasons including Location, Structure, and Versatility.

Location

Our Magnetic Weekly Planner lives on the refrigerator which is truly the nucleus of our household. Everyone walks by it and you can see it immediately when you walk in the door. I love that it is eye level so I can catch new details my husband has added while I was out of the house. There are a few other places I could put another including my office door, which is metal, and magnetic! Ta-da! {I really should have two!}

Structure

Our Magnetic Weekly Planner from Flat Harmony is BIG. It is 17” x 12” which really makes it look like its own piece of artwork on your fridge. Bonus, they ship it to you flat so there are no fold lines! The writing side is laminated so that it wipes clean easily. My favorite part might be the large section at the bottom for extra Notes and important details. Right now, I have our family, color-coded legend there so we know who is included in the upcoming events.

Presently, I’m using our Magnetic Weekly Planner to keep track of all our outing and events. In the summer, most of our chaos comes from the places we must be, pack for and events we’re expected to attend or prepare for. In one week, as you can see, we had a few Day Trips, a Birthday Party, and a River Rafting adventure. This is just the busiest time of the year for us and these are the hardest things for me to wrap my head around as a mom. If I didn’t walk by them, and see them on the Magnetic Weekly Planner I would surely forget to prepare for something.

I’m sure I’ll be using this in the fall for school homework assignments and field trips. I’ll have to write down the days I’m volunteering in the classroom as I’m sure I’ll be trading around with other moms and I’ll never keep all of that straight in my own head. Then when the holidays c ome around, it will be nice to keep track of when and where we must be all over again!

Are you ready to organize your chaotic schedule? I’m glad I did! This convenient Magnetic Planner is one more item I’m adding to my Summer Essentials List for Moms!

On My Bookshelf – #BabyLove: My Toddler Life | Book Review

Children's Books for Moms to read. #BabyLove: My Toddler Life. Summer Children's Books. Books for Social Media MomsSummer is the perfect time to build up your bookshelf. It is also the time when we moms really star  t taking pictures of those precious summer memories. Or, if you’re like me, you’re taking pictures all day long. Whether you’re an avid scrapbook-er, home video maker, social media influencer, etc. I bet you’re taking as many pictures of your kids as possible because, well, that’s our generation. But how many times are you in front of that camera? Better yet, how many times have you been fully present in the fun that’s happening in front of that camera? I asked myself these same questions recently and then coincidentally found this Children’s book.

#BabyLove: My Toddler Life

This is a children’s book written and illustrated by Corine Dehghanpisheh that walks through a typical day with Baby, Mommy, and the Smartphone. She has written a clever, sing-song story that kids can follow along with and even relate to. The pictures are vibrant and accurate, perfect to keep your little one’s attention.

How I relate to #BabyLove

The story she tells is basically my life. I am home all day with my kids and I am constantly on my phone for several reasons:

1- Work. There are only so many minutes in the day so I have to multitask to pay the bills. The second I sit down at a computer my children go berzerk… so phone it is!

2- Pictures. Not only am I documenting their activities for my Blog, but I’m documenting our day to share with their dad. He’s gone most of the week and when he gets home late at night I am way too tired to tell him what all we did, much less remember it all. If it weren’t for the chronological picture library I really wouldn’t know what happened 8 hours ago.

3- Videos. Our family lives hours away and I want them to share in my boys’ lives so I send them funny videos.

Why you should read it with your kids

The message my kids get when they read this Children’s book is that they’re normal. They see a kid wanting to pick up Mommy’s phone and play with the “precious device she is obsessed with” is a common kid desire. The book also helps them to understand, just a little bit, of why Mommy is using her phone all day to take pictures of how awesome they are, obviously. In the book, Mommy catches her son playing with her Phone and has the opportunity to sit down with him and show him that she’s been documenting his play and that’s why she “doesn’t play with” him. Which we as moms know all too well, however…

The Most Important Message

The point is, regardless of why you’re on your phone all day, which believe me I know is important, are you actually missing more than you’re catching? And by catching I mean taking pictures of. Yes, I’m there, clicking away and recording their activities, progress, talents, and humor for the world to see, but am I really participating in it?  At some point, you’ve taken enough pictures and it’s time to put down the phone and pick up a Lego.
