Welcome Back to Kelso Family Adventures with #MySweetandSticky! Today we’re reviewing our trip to Bauman’s Farm in Gervais, Oregon. Cash and Wyatt experienced it for the first time this year and I want to share everything they could do at this Pumpkin Patch.
Bauman’s Farm & Garden
First let’s cover the basics: Bauman’s Farm and Garden is a MASSIVE October Amusement Park-type place where they’re open to the public year-round, but host a spectacular Harvest Festival through September and into October. Year-round, not everything from the Harvest Festival is open. This post is specifically sharing about the Harvest Festival. That last link there above is what I’ll be referencing the most in this post. These are the activities that Cash & Wyatt either did the most, liked the most, or were just the best on the itinerary. So here we go:
What can 2 and 3-Year-Olds do at Bauman’s Farm?
Families visiting Bauman’s Farm will find a ton of activities perfectly suited for 2 and 3-year-olds. Little ones can delight in a gentle hayride through the picturesque farm, taking in the vibrant scenery and perhaps even spotting some friendly farm animals along the way. The petting zoo offers a wonderful opportunity for young children to interact with and learn about various animals in a safe, supervised environment.
For those with a bit more energy, the giant sandbox and play structures provide hours of fun, allowing children to climb, slide, and explore to their heart’s content. The pumpkin patch, especially during the fall season, is a magical place where toddlers can pick out their very own pumpkins, creating cherished memories for the whole family.
Additionally, Bauman’s Farm often hosts seasonal events during the Harvest Festival with activities tailored to young children, such as face painting, pony rides, and simple crafts.
2-Year-Old Activities at Bauman’s Farm
Wyatt was 2 years old for his first trip to the Harvest Festival. Right when you walk onto the property you’re treated by the buzz of the Bug Train which is a water barrel cart pulled by a huge tractor. Major fun for a toddler to watch, a little intimidating for him to ride in, as he wasn’t quite tall enough to see out of the barrel, but overall a favorite.
Bug Train: The Bug Train takes kids on a fun, bumpy, 15-minute journey around the farm and pumpkin patch. Ride a bee or ladybug.

Wyatt’s next favorite activity was the Gem Mining. We bought him a bag of dirt that he dumped into a wooden/mesh tray. He got to place that dirt-filled tray into a trough of running water and sifted it to reveal a ton of cool gemstones. This kept him entranced (and wet) for a solid 30 minutes. We got to keep all the gemstones he sifted through.
There are a TON of activities a 2-Year-Old can do and there are playgrounds and a Kid Zone just for littles. He did just about everything they had to offer, unless he was too short. He was able to go to all these places and do these activities:

- Gopher Hole
- Hay Ride
- Little Tykes Zone
- Nut House
- Barnyard Playground

3-Year-Old Activities at Bauman’s Farm
Now Cash could do a bit more because he was taller. Some activities have a height minimum of 30″ (always refer to their website for official rules.) Cash got to go in these areas that Wyatt wasn’t quite ready for yet:
- Jumping Pillows
- Obstacle Course (Inflatables)
What to Expect at Bauman’s Farm
Plan for it to take the entire day. It’s not like your typical Pumpkin Patch where you’re in and out in a few hours… It’s an Amusement Park and they do a great job of moving you around it. They even have a few characters in costume walking around for photo opportunities!
- Not everything is included with admission. You have to pay extra for a few Activities.
- There are many things only open/running on weekends, so review their website before you go.
- There is a concession stand with great food and Apple Cider DONUTS! Huge hit and crowd-pleaser.
Plan to go on a Weekend so you get to experience as much as possible, but be there when they open and plan to stay until they close. It will take you all day, especially with toddlers.
