Hey Friends! I hope you’ve already downloaded my FREE December Advent Calendar list and you’re ready to start! If you don’t have your own Advent Calendar yet, you can snag one on Amazon through my Advent Calendar List.

Amazon List | December Advent Calendar

Day 1 is to make a Christmas Countdown Chain, tracking the days until Christmas.

Christmas Countdown Chain

Since our entire Advent Calendar is full of fun activities, I made my Countdown Chain full of discussion prompts. Each one begins with, “On this Day before Christmas” and then adds on a sentence starter prompt. Every night when we break off a link, my family will go around and finish the sentence.

Printable Chain Links

Below I’ve included a FREE Printable for my chain links. There are 5 links per page. I load my printer with alternating red and green cardstock, then print. You’ll have a beautiful alternating chain for Christmas full of amazing conversations.

Of course, you can print the chain links on any color cardstock or paper you like. I print “Quantity 5” which gives me 25 links on my chain. You could also start the chain on Thanksgiving or as early as you like.

Added Bonus! The kids had a great time writing the numbers on their links. We alternated colors so Cash had to count backwards by odd numbers, so that really stretched his brain. Meanwhile, Wyatt got a lot of much needed practice in writing numbers, big and small.

We hope everyone has a super fun December. Stay tuned for Day 2 of the Advent Calendar and Writing Letters to Santa!
