Splish Splash Birthday BashIf you’re looking for an adorable theme for your Summer Birthday party, you’ve found it! The Beach Ball Party theme is so fun to play with, literally! The bright colors of a beach ball bring out the bright smiles of everyone involved.

3 Decorating Ideas | Beach Party Birthday

The theme essentially showcases what we all love the most about summer; the bright colors, delicious BBQ, and playful excitement. Since Beach Balls come in so many colors, your options are truly limitless.

Beach Ball Theme

For this party, we went a little extra and added a huge Beach Ball Arch entry to really kick off the party vibes. This whole party was built and designed by my own Etsy Shop, The Vintage Event, and I’ll be linking you through to each piece so that you too can throw together the perfect theme!

How to Set it Up

Splish Splash Birthday BashWhenever you’re setting up a party with a theme, I rely heavily on a focal point display. {In real life I plan parties for my own company, Green-Eyed Girl Productions} I always go for a 6′ table food/dessert display when planning birthday parties because it is truly where everyone wants to look. With little kids, it’s all about the desserts and little touches that tie a theme together.

Establish your Theme | The Back Wall

Place your table against a wall. I love to create backdrops for my parties that pull the whole display up and make it bigger! For this Beach Ball Party, we made the backdrop with tissue Streamers. It was so cheap and Easy to make too!

Next, we made a classic, flag banner in beach ball colors with some custom water “Splish Splash” inspired scrapbook paper.

What is the first thing you notice at a birthday party? The Dessert! Whenever there are a lot of people, you have to go with cupcakes! One of our favorites, The Divine Cupcake, designed these adorable Beach Ball Cupcakes for us! My son Cash was a big fan.

You can also do cupcakes with blue frosting to look like the water and top them with some Wave Cupcake Toppers or even Anchors!

Get Clever with your Food Service | Name it fun things!

For this display, I built it up with crates and cake plates to elevate everything as well as tie in the red color with the tissue paper backdrop. Who knew that the Red Solo Cups would be so decorative! I even scored a blue striped Beach Towel at Wal-Mart only a few days prior to the party to bring is all together. Score!

Next will be all of your clever food labels. I am such a sucker for naming food to fit the party theme! #guilty

For the Beach Ball Party I named:

  • Blue Punch | Salt Water
  • Adult Beverages | Sandy Surf
  • Cupcakes | Beach Balls {obviously}
  • Kid’s Activity Snack | Sand Bars

Food Service really made this party though… We served Hamburgers and the traditional Summer BBQ fixings. But, what brought it all together was putting the side salads in Sand Pails and using the sand shovels to scoop it onto plates.

My favorite part about throwing a party is planning all the tiny details that pull it all together. Now that you know how to set up your back wall and name your food, let’s cover the table surface.

Step 1: Get all those food items up off the table. Make them just under eye-level so that guests don’t have to bend down to get them.

Step 2: Sprinkle your Splish Splash Bash or Beach Ball Party theme everywhere! Start high and work your way down. The tallest piece of the table should be your presentation cake, or in this case, cupcakes. The tallest piece of your display should shout your theme loudly! Make it big, make it pop. {But don’t pop the actual beach balls 😉

Beach Ball Arch: As mentioned above, I got a little extra with this party and really want to set the tone from the moment guests walked in the door. The party was actually in the backyard of this house so we had to start them off in their party vibes from their first step in the door!

Confetti: Finally, to cover the very last surface of the actual table we used confetti. {my favorite!} Continuing in Splish Splash theme and the goldfish Kid’s Activity we have fish confetti, as well as some blue Sprinkle Confetti to look like water. It’s also Biodegradable, so that’s a plus when kids are “splashing” it all over the yard.
