I have been looking forward to this birthday ever since Wyatt picked up a golf club. The use of the word FORE! has been on my mind that long. Wyatt actually IS a good golfer so this Golf Birthday Party theme just had to happen. Wyatt’s Birthday is in January so the weather is a bit unpredictable. Instead of doing a party at a mini-golf course or even at a local golf course, we decided to stay home and let the kids play with the many golf accessories we have.

Wyatt plays a LOT of Golf | FORE!
The party pretty much throws itself when you have as many golf toys as we do. Wyatt {all three boys actually} received a Birdie Ball putting green for Christmas, only a few weeks earlier that we set up for kids to putt on. That went nicely with the driving green he already had for 2 years. Check out this video. In fact, you can see all of Wyatt’s golfing through his very own hashtag #WyGuyGolfs {yep, we’re those parents} Billy just told me that Wyatt has officially played 31 Public Golf Courses in Oregon. He also just shot his first 7 the other day.

How to throw a Golf Birthday Party
My main focus for this party was a Club House feel and the 19th Hole, Post-Tournament vibe. You know, where the dudes all end up after a long hard day on the course. There were a few key elements I leaned on to pull it all together for this Golf Party. {You know me, I’m all about the food at a party!} I also kept it well under $100, granted I made a lot of the decorations which you can now purchase in my Etsy Shop. I’ve linked to them all below.
Here are the Top 5 Golf Party Features:
- The Letter Board- I wanted that tournament feel
- The Cake- I love how it turned out! {$18!}
- The most adorable FOUR-year-old T-Shirt {$15}
- How Many Tees- We needed one little guessing game at the end {FREE}
- Post Tournament Club House Buffet- aka All the fun food

Letter Board Club House Menu
The Letter Board was the exact look I was going for in my Golf Party Club House. I did have to order myself some white, 2″ Letter Board Letters for the Club House title though. But I always have room for more letters!
We ordered Papa Murphy’s Pizzas and baked them ourselves. {Super savvy money saver, I highly recommend it} The 3 large pizzas cost us $36 in total. I made a pesto pasta salad that we called “The Rough” which I now

I took Wyatt into Roth’s and he LOVED getting to choose his own cake flavors. If you must know, his cake was chocolate with strawberry filling. Roth’s had a fantastic selection of cakes to order and this one even came with a toy golf cart. Bonus! He still plays with it. The best part though, this cake {including the toy golf cart} was only $18! If you’re in Oregon, I recommend Roth’s Fresh Market for your cakes.

Golf Birthday Party Food Names
And now for the food… If you’ve been around the blog long enough, you’ve seen 5 years worth of Birthday Parties and ALL of them have fun food labels. I am an absolute #WordNerd when it comes to party planning and it even works it’s way in when I’m planning parties for my clients over at Green-Eyed Girl Productions. Checkout this Dr. Seuss themed Grad Party

Anyway. The first thing I do when I’m building a theme is jump on the internet and begin researching words that I could use to name food. #WordNerdAlert We found some really fun ones for this Golf Birthday Party. In fact, if you’re also planning a party and want to use my labels I made a digital download listing for them in my Etsy Shop. Golf Party Food Name Labels PDF Download.

The Sweet Spots might be my favorite. We made our own cupcakes out of a box mix, and Wyatt helped. We think used green sprinkles to look like grass and a tiny white Sixlet Chocolate to be the golf ball. They were a hit. You can find the Golf Flag Cupcake Toppers in my Etsy shop too.

Groceries are always the biggest budget buster when you’re hosting any party. I love to spread out the spending though and count on leftovers being eaten the whole week after. For example, I went heavy on the drinks for this Golf Birthday Party because the 19th Hole theme… but we’re still drinking these canned beverages well into March. We’re also still eating chips and pretzels! I sent a lot of the candies home with the kids to give them a “Party Favor” treat bag. But also, a lot of this candy was re-used from Cash’s Science Party this summer. Can you spot them? The Hazards, Eagles, Juicy Lies and Holes in One

Fun Fact: The turfgrass table runner is from Cash’s 1st Birthday Party which was Oregon Ducks Football Themed!

How Many Tees | Guessing Game
As we all stood around eating our cupcakes, freezing in January outside, I had everyone guess how many tees we had in the jar. This was pretty fun and a last little finale before everyone parted ways and my boys shipped out to Golf Camp. Yep, they had Golf Camp on the same day as the party so that worked out!

And TOTALLY BOOKMARKED. Shoot. Landon’s birthday was only just 3 weeks ago, I wish I saw this post prior to his day, because I totally would have attempted some of this – hahahahaha! That being said, when Falkor is of an age where he actually appreciate things, we are SOOOOO doing a golf-themed birthday (um, every year? lol). It’s so cute how he is already intrigued by golf. Whenever it’s on the tv, he is glued to it! PS: you may be one of the most creative people EVER!
Thank you so much! It was a really fun theme to work with. We’d been looking forward to it for 3 years as soon as we knew Wyatt was a golfer! Both boys have been out golfing with Billy since they were weeks old. I can’t wait to see your party when you do it!
Planning my son’s 6th golf themed party and this was super helpful!
Where did you get the astro-turf? I’m having a hard time finding the right words to search for just decorative turf for tables, etc.
Hi Tara! I actually walked into a Home Depot and had them cut me a strip that was only 14″ wide! It is the length that is standard for patios. In the store, they have it on a HUGE economy roll, and yes, the guy looked at me very funny when I asked him to cut me only a strip of it.
