Wyatt turning 9 was a BLAST! We celebrated him with a Happy NERF Day-themed party this year and oh, how the darts flew! Everyone was a trooper as this party did happen in the rain… We’ve been so lucky these last 8 years with the January weather, it was time for a wet and wild day.

Happy NERF Day Party
It really is as simple as it sounds. You just need about a million foam darts and you’re good to go! Just kidding, we obviously put safety first… As with all our parties, we went with the classic “Leveling Up” system at the main table. Passing Level 1 got you your very own set of fancy safety glasses. The main party rule was that you had to then wear them for the remainder of the day. Good thing too… as I… am the one who shot my own son, the birthday boy in the eye, while in the Gauntlet. #sigh
My Nerf Party Rules
Since I’m giving you advice on hosting a party like this, I must confess we did one thing right and that was providing ALL the guns ourselves. It was expensive, sure, but it ensured all the guns were at the limit I felt safe with. I wanted to provide all the guns for two reasons: 1- I didn’t want anyone having a “better” gun than anyone else and that potentially causing an issue. 2- I didn’t want anyone showing up with a battery-powered automatic that would hurt someone during our close-up games. The grounds were neutral with everyone having the same dinky single shooter. And it worked just fine.
