Wyatt is a big sports guy, so obviously we had to throw him a Sports-Themed Birthday Party that covered a few sports he loves. This party also dabbled into his love of Pokemon with a Leveling Up Party Game System where we “evolved” across the party. We have these great lockers I found at a garage sale a few summers back, and they came in super handy. Let’s take a tour through how it all went.
How to Throw a Sports Theme Birthday Party
If you don’t have lockers, you can find another way to move through the party, opening boxes or “presents” would work well too.
Here is everything you need to know about the Level Up Game we played at this party. Wyatt turned 7 this year, so we used the 6 lockers and the final level was the cake candle lighting.

Sports Theme Party Details
For the rest of the party, I got to decorate all things Sports. This entire party was actually duplicated a few weeks later for our End of Season Basketball Party. So that said, this whole theme lends itself to a ton of uses. The overall goal for this party was to pass “levels” by training the Pokemon out in the yard. When the group passed a level, they added a “prize” from the main table to their Concession Stand Bucket. At the end, we all took our concessions into the garage for a DIY Theatre showing of Space Jam. The Kids loved it!

One of my favorite party staples that I’ve been working into every party lately is these custom-flavored Cotton Candy Bags. I drew the basketball lines on these clear bags after she delivered them. If you’re local, in the Salem area, I highly recommend Sticky Fingers Cotton Candy!

One of my favorite DIY Details are these Die Cut Basketball Backboards. I’ve added them to my Etsy Shop. Shop all Basketball items on Etsy.
The next easiest details were these cute chocolate pudding cups. I used a white Sharpie Paint marker to draw football laces on them.
