Hi there, I’m Kandice, a former Educator, and Preschool Homeschool Mom, sharing a quick easy list of February Preschool Themes. February is a wonderful time to explore new themes and concepts with preschoolers and toddlers. When #MySweetandSticky were little February was always a fun month because there are tons of themes you can dive into. We spent a lot of our time in the kitchen, baking and even doing simple science experiments.

February Preschool Themes

Here are some exciting themes that can be incorporated into your homeschool curriculum for February:

1. Valentine’s Day

Create handmade Valentine’s cards for family and friends using colorful paper, stickers, and stamps.
Introduce simple patterns and counting with heart-shaped candies or cut-outs.
Read books about friendship and love to foster social-emotional learning.

2. Groundhog Day

Discuss the concept of shadows and how they are formed. Have fun with a shadow puppet activity using a flashlight.
Craft a groundhog puppet from paper bags or socks.
Predict whether the groundhog will see its shadow, and chart the weather for the month.

3. Winter Animals

Explore the habitats of winter animals like penguins, polar bears, and arctic foxes.
Create animal masks or costumes for a winter animal parade.
Watch short documentaries or read picture books about these animals.

4. Healthy Heart Month

Discuss the importance of exercise and a healthy diet. Create a simple exercise routine together.
Make heart-healthy snacks like fruit kabobs or veggie sticks with hummus.
Learn about the human body, focusing on how the heart works, through age-appropriate books and diagrams.

5. Black History Month

Craft paper lanterns or dragon masks to celebrate the festivities.
Try making simple traditional Chinese dishes, such as dumplings or fried rice, together.

7. Dental Health Month

Teach proper teeth-brushing techniques with a fun brushing song.
Create a tooth brushing chart to encourage daily dental hygiene.
Visit a local dentist’s office for an educational tour or invite a guest speaker to talk about dental health.
