I’m Kandice Kelso, the mom behind A Cotton Kandi Life, and today, we’re diving into our Preschool Themes for July. With over a decade of parenting and adventure planning under my belt, and with my own two boys—My Sweet & Sticky—who’ve graduated from our homeschool preschool to public school, I’ve got some tips and tricks that will make your July both educational and entertaining. This Month’s Themes

Let’s kick off July with a bang—literally! Here are five fun themes to explore with your little ones:

Fireworks: Perfect for those post-4th of July celebrations.
Blueberries: Dive into the delicious world of these little blue wonders.
Learning to Play Pokémon: Time to catch ’em all, and learn a bit while doing it!
Superheroes: Because every preschooler dreams of saving the world.
Beach Days: Embrace the sand, sun, and surf!

Each theme is packed with opportunities for creativity, learning, and fun. Let’s break them down into some easy-to-follow lesson plans.

1. Language Arts

Fireworks Poetry: Have your little one come up with words that describe fireworks. Think “boom,” “sparkle,” and “bright.” Create a simple poem using these words.
Blueberry Storytime: Read a story about blueberries, then ask your child to retell it in their own words. This can be as simple as “The Little Blueberry That Could.”
Pokémon Character Creation: Encourage kids to invent their own Pokémon with a name and a backstory. What are its powers? What does it like to eat?

2. Math
