I absolutely knew I had to incorporate a Cupboard Under the Stairs into this Who Done It Mystery SOME HOW! I wasn’t sure how until I found these Glow-in-the-Dark pens and figured I could do some magic with them. We had a giant soccer net which I was able to cover with black linen and then drop clothes.

The Cupboard Under The Stairs
So the first step was figuring out how to make it a part of the Who Done it Mystery. I went with an EVICTION NOTICE from Aunt P. Wizards had to use their “Lumos” Spell or light-up pens to decode the name symbols inside the cupboard. The hardest part was actually fitting all the kids inside to look for letters. I realized that one, it was way too hot on our party day to push them all in there, two, I should have sent them in by their houses to pull them off and take it to a darker place. As opposed to reading them inside the cupboard.
Clue 2 – Directions:
- Players need Light Up Wands! (Invisible Ink Pens)
- Print the eviction Notice from Aunt p.
- Cut up individual paper pieces and trace coded letters onto them. include blank decoy pieces.
- Build a DARK Cupboard under the stairs.
- Tape the Invisible letters in the cupboard all over.
- Cut/Frame the 4″x6″ Directions for players/kids/wizards.
How to Pass this Clue:

- Send in by House Teams
- Find all the coded letters with the Light Up Wands.
- Decode then Unscramble.
- eliminate Dudley.
- Move on to Clue 3

Below you can see the inside of our “cupboard” and how I hid the coded letters. Again, looking back I would have sent them in a darker cupboard only to retrieve the letters, then decoded them outside together. You can do it however you choose! But you will need the Glow in the Dark Pens, which you can find on this Amazon List:
