Free the Owls when you make it the Clue 6, The Owlery! You’ll need the keys from Wingardium Leviosa | Clue 5.
For Cash’s 10th (9 3/4) Birthday, he challenged me to create an entire Escape Room themed around Harry Potter. AND IT WAS A JOY but took me months to get right! I’m going to walk you through this whole party, clue by clue, and maybe your little wizards will want to dive into this Party with Wands-a-blazing. This post covers one clue of the ten we did.

The Owlery | Clue 6
There is a big piece to this clue inside my Who Done it Mystery Printable (link above, on Etsy) which is the Harry Potter Trivia Questions. After completing the previous Clue and collecting their keys, wizards had to face down some O.W.L.S level study questions to get a chance at the cages. For every correct answer the kids got to go try a key and unlock an owl.
Owl Cages
We had 16 kids at this party, so I did 4 owl cages, each with 4 mini padlocks. The ones I got on Amazon we PERFECT because they were color-coded. Kids who had the colored key knew to unlock the same color padlock. Under each owl, inside the cage there was a piece of paper that, when all 4 combined, revealed the next person to eliminate from the Who Done It board.
Clue 6 – Directions:
- You will need White Owls, Mini Padlock Keys, and BirdCages.
- Cut apart the Clue 6 Note and hide it under the owl in each birdcage.
- Students will answer questions to unlock cages.
- Cut/Frame the 4″x6″ Directions for players/kids/wizards.
How to Pass this Clue:
- Players answer Trivia Questions: Every correct answer gets to unlock a padlock.
- Unlock all cages and free each owl.
- Sort the note pieces and Decode the letters/
- eliminate Hermoine.
- Move on to Clue 7
